Developers hack watchOS 2 to make Apple Watch run UIKit based native applications

Famous iOS developers and hackers Saurik, Steve Troughton-Smith and Adam Bell have managed to hack watchOS 2 beta to run truly native applications on an Apple Watch. If you have been following watchOS 2 news lately then you would know that Apple has somewhat allowed developers to run native apps on the Watch, however it is not truly native as even though the logic code runs on the watch the access to UI is still not possible on the watchOS 2 itself. So frameworks such as the UIKit cannot be utilized to create custom user-interface on the Watch.

However with this new hack the developers were able to create a fully interactive 3D object on the Apple Watch using Apple’s SceneKit framework. Even though the ScreenKit is used in the demo, this achievement proves that developers will be able to use any UI framework that works on iOS devices.

This is not the first time Apple Watch has been hacked to run native applications as previously hacker Comex also demonstrated Safari browser running on an Apple Watch.

The developers who worked together to achieve this feat have announced that they will release technical information about their hack once the watchOS is released in the fall.

iOS 8.3 jailbreak release date announced

Jailbreak for Apple iOS 8.3 is now expected to come in July this year. Chinese elite hacking group called Keen Team, or K33n, plans to jailbreak the upcoming iOS 9.
Jailbreaking the latest iOS is a big deal in the hacker community. There are many individuals and groups who try to jailbreak iOS so that users have full control of their handset.
Apple does not allow the downloading of certain applications on its iDevices. However, once a device is jailbroken, a user can get root access to the iOS file system and manager, which allows the downloading of Apple restricted apps, themes and extensions not available from Apple's official app store.
Apple released iOS 8.3 in April this year, and it has been installed on a major chunk of iDevices. Apple has also released iOS 8.4 beta, which is in its preview stage and is available to a limited number of developers and consumers. iOS 8.4 is expected to be rolled out by the end of June.
A recent report suggests that another hacking group called Pangu has already demonstrated its ability to jailbreak iOS 8.3 at the Mobile Security Conference (MOSEC). However, Pangu will release the untethered iOS 8.3 jailbreak only once iOS 8.4 has been released.
Forbes says it has spoken to Liang Chen, a Keen Team crew member in Shanghai, who revealed that the hacker group wants to release its first jailbreak in partnership with other hackers, such as Team Pangu, which have released iOS 7 and iOS 8 jailbreaks in the past.
In 2013 and in 2014, Keen was rewarded a prize money of $27,500 and $40,000 for breaking Apple's Safari web browser at the Mobile Pwn2Own competitions. Keen is one of the most respected hacking groups not only in China but also worldwide. However, the team has never released any of their jailbreaks to the public.
Forbes suggests that a lot of money will be involved in jailbreaking iOS 9, and several hacker groups will want to be the first to exploit the operating system.
"Deals have been rumoured to be upwards of $1 million for an untethered jailbreak—one that can be downloaded and used without having to be connected to a PC via USB. Those rumours are widely agreed on in the iOS research community," reports Forbes.
Chen revealed that the Keen Team is not very interested in the financial aspect of jailbreaking iOS 9. Chen also said that he may inform Apple if he comes across any vulnerability.
The release of iOS 9 is still a good few months away. Apple engineers will have enough time to beef up its security settings so that hackers cannot exploit the upcoming iOS 9.
While jaibroken iPhones can give users full control over the device, it also leaves the handset open to vulnerability. The warranty also becomes void on a jailbroken device.

QuickUnlock tweak gives quick access to device by bypassing the lockscreen

Do you find it annoying when you have to perform slide to unlock gesture every time you want to access your iPhone or iPad. In situations like when you are chatting with your friends or using the calculator you wish you could simply access your device without having to unlock it again and again. Well the new QuickUnlock tweak does exactly that by allowing users to access their iOS device by bypassing the lockscreen. It is a simple tweak that takes you to the homescreen as soon as you press the lock button.

QuickUnlock bypasses the lockscreen, however the tweak does let you view it if you have pending notifications displaying on LS. In that case the lockscreen behaves normally and you can either swipe on the notification to open the relevant app or simply unlock the device by performing ‘Slide to Unlock’ gesture.

While QuickUnlock tweak adds convenience for the users that convenience comes at a price. The hack also bypasses the passcode or Touch ID authentication, which means anyone can access your device if you don’t have pending notifications.

So if you are worried about privacy it is better to avoid installing QuickUnlock. If you don’t have a passcode lock enabled then QuickUnlock is a must have. We hope developer could introduce a feature like the ability to restrict QuickUnlock only when the device is connected to home WiFi similar to CleverPin, so people who have passcode lock on can also use it.

You can download QuickUnlock tweak from Cydia for free. It works on iOS 7 and iOS 8.

Chinese K33n team plans to release an iOS 9 jailbreak

Apple has already announced the new iOS 9 software update for iPhone and iPad, which will be released later this year. The new iOS 9 just like iOS 7 and 8 has many features that have been inspired by popular jailbreak tweaks. Despite that the company likes to avoid acknowledging the contributions of the community that mostly comprises of fans who love the iOS platforms. Despite its popularity the jailbreak scene has been quiet for several months as their hasn’t been a jailbreak for iOS 8.2 as well as iOS 8.3, and the last jailbreak-able version of the operating system remains iOS 8.1.2 that was released months ago.
But when it comes to iOS 9 jailbreak it seems like we won’t have to wait too long as a hacker group from China called the K33n Team has shown its will to release a jailbreak for the operating system as soon as it is released publicly. The announcement was made by K33n team member Liang Chen, who talking to Forbes also hinted at the possibility of collaboration with another famous jailbreak team that we all know as Team Pangu. He also wants to work with TaiG in order to release the iOS 9 jailbreak as early as possible.
While many of you may be hearing the name of K33n team for the first time, they do have a history of hacking iOS devices. The team won the Pwn2Own competition by hacking the Safari browser and are well known in the hacking circles.
Of course K33n team isn’t the only jailbreak team that is eyeing an iOS 9 jailbreak release. We are sure Team Pangu, TaiG, Evad3rs and others would like to get into the action as well.

Oculus Rift consumer version revealed

At a special event today, Oculus VR revealed the first consumer version of its Oculus Rift headset. The consumer model is "really lightweight," says Oculus. "You're going to put it on like a baseball cap." It's also said to "better accommodate glasses," which has been a problem for me when trying the prototypes.
The Rift features a custom display and optics—which Oculus has been working on for years—and a tracking sensor on a stand, which looks like the one that leaked the other day. We learned earlier that the Rift will include integrated headphones, but now we also know that they're removable, so you can also use your own headset.
Oculus also announced that the Rift will ship with a wireless Xbox One controller. Later, founder Palmer Luckey took the stage to announce Oculus' own controller, Oculus Touch. We've since learned that Touch is coming in the first half of 2016, shortly after the Oculus Rift is available, and will be sold separately.
The plan is still to launch the Rift early next year, and no price was announced at the event—Luckey might be saving that one for E3. Check out some official product shots below:

GTA 5: all Ill-Gotten Gains DLC vehicles will cost you $19m

GTA Online’s Ill-Gotten Gains DLC brings with it some very highly priced vehicles. Have you got a spare $19 million plus change?

The whole point of GTA Online’s latest update was to spend some of that filthy lucre you saved up from hammering the Heists update.
Well, I hope you’ve got plenty of cash to spare.
The new cars range in price from $195,000 in-game for the pimp-tastic Albany Virgo to a whopping $1,950,000 million for the Pegassi Osiris – you know, the sports car with the gullwing doors. As an aside – and a warning – don’t blow up the Osiris. It’ll cost you at least $24,000 in insurance money.

And if you really want to flaunt your hard-earned wealth in the most distasteful way possible, why not buy a gold-plated helicopter or private jet for between $5 and $10 million?

So all in you’re looking at $19,115,000 to own the lot.
While we’re looking at the price of things, let’s check out the latest outfits from Ponsonby’s

The Ill-Gotten Gains DLC went live today, with part two expected from Rockstar later in the summer.
